Grapevine Pinot gris virus (GPGV) was discovered in Trentino, Italy, where it was associated with symptoms of chlorotic mottling and leaf deformation (GLMD) (Giampetruzzi 2012). The virus was reported in all the main grape growing areas worldwide (Saldarelli 2017). A study was accomplished on field- and screenhouse-grown grapevines in Apulia, Italy, showing GLMD to ascertain the role of the virus in symptoms.
