1707 specific and intraspecific taxa, 698 genera, 254 families are included in the historical fungi collection of the General Herbarium of Palermo, most of which are mycromycetes responsible for diseases on major agricultural crops, with backgrounds from all parts of the world. The most substantial nucleus is represented by the collections of the Italian Cryptogamic Herbarium in which many researchers of the XIX Century participated.
