Jatropha curcas, a multipurpose plant belonging to the family of Euphorbiacae is native of tropical America. Due to its great adaptability and its drought resistance is possible to introduce this cultivar in different pedoclimatic conditions. Even if Jatropha curcas Lin. obtained main product is oil, it is possible to produce other different products like biofuels, soap, insecticide, glycerol, fertilizer and more. Since several years Commodity Science Researchers of University of Bari are studying different cultivars and their potential as energy and non energy raw material. The objective of this paper is to investigate Jatropha curcas potentialities to produce biofuels and other different goods for chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, and other industrial applications. Chances to introduce this cultivar in Italy will be then evaluated.

Abstract
Chances to introduce this cultivar in Italy will be then evaluated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
