All the long wave radiometric properties of the materials, such as the transmissivity, the reflectivity, the emissivity are taken into account in the radiative energy exchange The method has been applied in a greenhouse energy simulation model and the results were compared with the measurements carried out in an experimental greenhouse. The comparison showed good agreement between the calculated and measured data. Another comparison was carried out between this method and a model using thermal radiation exchange formulas that don’t take into account all the radiadive properties of the materials; a difference was pointed out particularly about the covering temperature because it has a transmissivity in long wave IR radiation that cannot be neglected.
