Abstract
This study aims to reconstructe some of the dynamics behind the spread of the Michaelic cult in Southern Italy and the islands, and their place in the history of the Garganic sanctuary, the most important site of Michaelic worship in the West, between late Antiquity and early Middle Ages. It was a prime observation post not just for the devotional history of the Archangel, but also for some of the political and religious strategies that shaped Southern Italy right up until the Norman Conquest.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
