This general survey outlines the contribution of the Romanian critical literature concerning one of the oldest and most trustworthy historical documents about the Christianity’s statement on the Lower Danube area (the border between Roman Empire and Barbaricum) during the IIIrd and IVth century. After a first phase, marked by issues due to scholars coming from theological (and historical) training, other scholars seem to have undertaken more recently accurate researches in the domain of philology, in addition to history and archaeology of the region concerned by this document
