In 2023 and 2024, the first two research campaigns were conducted as part of the Italian-Albanian mission ‘Landscape Archaeology in the middle Vjosa valley: historical research and heritage communities’ carried out by the University of Bari Aldo Moro and the Institute of Archaeology in Tirana and focused on the Memaliaj-Qesarat basin. Survey, geoprospecting, material culture contributed to the identification of several sites, almost all of which are multi-layered, and to the discovery of strong evidence indicating a rich pattern of human presence and occupation shaped by the river bends and extending from the Neolithic to Late Antiquity
