Youth engagement in museums depends on the ability to offer dynamic and engaging experiences that meet their educational and entertainment needs. This contribution aims to analyze the needs for youth museum engagement in the 9-18 age group. The research, conducted through a questionnaire sent via email, involved all primary and secondary schools in Puglia. The study aims to better understand the ways and preferences with which young people interact with museums, identifying the most effective strategies to engage them in museum activities. Through a structured survey, quantitative and qualitative data were collected, providing a precise picture of young people’s attitudes and interests towards the museum environment (Hein, 1998). The participants’ responses provide valuable insights on how to improve the accessibility, usability, and attractiveness of museum exhibits for this age group. The goal is to develop programs and initiatives that meet the expectations of young people, encouraging their active participation and stimulating their curiosity and creativity. The results of this analysis represent a fundamental starting point for museums in Puglia and beyond, offering concrete ideas to make cultural offerings more engaging and in tune with the needs of the new generations.
Il coinvolgimento museale nei giovani dipende dalla capacità di offrire esperienze dinamiche e coinvolgenti che rispondano alle loro esigenze educative e di intrattenimento. Questo contributo analizza i bisogni sull’engagement museale giovanile nella fascia d’età 9-18 anni. La ricerca, tramite un questionario via mail, ha coinvolto tutte le scuole primarie e secondarie di I e II grado della Puglia. Lo studio mira a comprendere meglio le modalità e le preferenze con cui i giovani interagiscono con i musei, identificando le strategie più efficaci per coinvolgerli nelle attività museali. Attraverso un’indagine strutturata, sono stati raccolti dati quantitativi e qualitativi che delineano un quadro preciso delle attitudini e degli interessi dei ragazzi nei confronti dell’ambiente museale (Hein, 1998). Le risposte dei partecipanti forniscono indicazioni preziose su come migliorare accessibilità, fruibilità e attrattività delle esposizioni museali per questa fascia d’età. L’obiettivo è sviluppare programmi e iniziative che rispondano alle aspettative dei giovani, incentivando la loro partecipazione attiva e stimolando curiosità e creatività. I risultati di questa analisi rappresentano un punto di partenza fondamentale per i musei pugliesi e non solo, offrendo spunti concreti per rendere le offerte culturali più coinvolgenti e in sintonia con le esigenze delle nuove generazioni.
