The text analyzes the presence of the cult and iconography of Saint James of Compostella between Conversano, Monopoli and Brindisi, an area characterized by pilgrimage routes between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age and residence of families of Iberian origin. There are churches, chapels, altars, hospitals dedicated to the Saint and also non very frequent iconography: the Santiago Matamoros, the mother of James Mary Salome with Christ and the Apostles, the Saint James – apostle and pilgrim – with the verse of the Apostolic Symbol. Finally, the text analyzes the case of Brindisi, a strategic port for the journey to the Holy Land, where there is a second image of the Santiago Matamoros.
