This contribution presents new findings on fragmentary painted plasters discovered in 1971-72 in the settlement of Arpi (Apulia) between the first decades of the 1st century CE and the mid-imperial period. The finds, which are now decontextualised, can be classified into four groups. The first group comprises fragments of a 4th style decorative program, for which we propose a hypothesis of reconstruction. For groups 2 and 3, we provide preliminary remarks on technique, iconographic motifs, and relevant surfaces.

Abstract
This contribution presents new findings on fragmentary painted plasters discovered in 1971-72 in the settlement of Arpi (Apulia) between the first decades of the 1st century CE and the mid-imperial period. The finds, which are now decontextualised, can be classified into four groups. The first group comprises fragments of a 4th style decorative program, for which we propose a hypothesis of reconstruction. For groups 2 and 3, we provide preliminary remarks on technique, iconographic motifs, and relevant surfaces.File in questo prodotto:
