The Life of St Euphrosyne illustrates the biography of a saint that was scarcely known and venerated in western Middle Ages. The essay examines the main texts in western Europe, focusing on the most ancient translation in a vulgar language, made in Anglo-Saxon England, probably during the Benedictine Renaissance (late 10 – early 11 century). This study puts the stress on the importance of this ancient translation even for the reconstruction of its Latin model (BHL 2723).

Abstract
The Life of St Euphrosyne illustrates the biography of a saint that was scarcely known and venerated in western Middle Ages. The essay examines the main texts in western Europe, focusing on the most ancient translation in a vulgar language, made in Anglo-Saxon England, probably during the Benedictine Renaissance (late 10 – early 11 century). This study puts the stress on the importance of this ancient translation even for the reconstruction of its Latin model (BHL 2723).File in questo prodotto:
