"How sad prudence is". Teatro Valle Occupato as a case of minority empowerment through media-activism

The work presented aims to observe what is the role played by media-activism for the psycho-social empowerment of a minority, represented by some actors of the "Teatro Valle Occupato" in Rome. Among the forms of media activism one is the so called "e-tactics", in which activists use social media as a complementary tool to the protest actions. Based on the constructs of empowerment and participation, the work analyses occupants' discussions by means of a quanti-qualitative methodology of content analysis in order to determine which form of empowerment emerges from this form of media-activism.
