Abstract
The analysis of the archeological material, especially ceramic, found to Egnazia during the archaeological investigations undertaken at the beginning of the twentieth century and recent times under the ‘Progetto Egnazia: dallo scavo alla valorizzazione’ allows to outline the framework of the socio-economic city, inserted inside the main channels of commerce in the Mediterranean between the second century BC and the third century AD. The strategic location of the city and the vitality of the port guaranteed, already in late republic age, secure relationships along the Adriatic-Ionian route that, starting from the second half of the century AD, were opened in a consistent manner towards the east and especially to Africa.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
