Abstract
For much of the Ancient Regime, melodrama presented itself as a festive event, following the celebratory and political functions that accompanied its origins. The object of this investigation, located at the end of the eighteenth century, demonstrates how, after almost two centuries of staging theatrical festivals,1 the festival itself could take on the features of a melodrama in a context where the city space was decorated until it becomes a huge stage.File in questo prodotto:
