Is it possible to reflect today on some foundational questions of the human and its constitutive nature of “Being-with”, starting from a possible comparison between intentionality and ontology? How does critical-philosophical thought stand today in relation to the new ontological determinations dictated by the era of simulation? Are we perhaps facing a real Copernican revolution in the field of methodologies for approaching scientific knowledge which, in turn, impose a re-signification of the idea of man, world and existence? I try to explore this path of reflection through the contribution of two Authors – Brentano and Horkheimer – who, despite their temporal and reflective distance, make it possible to create the premises for going beyond the critical issues outlined above through an attempt to compare intentionality and ontology.
