In this study we analyzed the effects of different concentrations of Naloxone, an opioid antagonist, on viability, capacitation and acrosome reaction of ram sperm cells. After 3 hours of incubation in SOF-medium we detected viability and the physiological status of spermatozoa by the combined Hoechst 33258/Chlortetracycline staining. The results showed that 10–9M Nx increased the percentage of viable spermatozoa in respect to the control (P<0.001), to the calcium ionophore A 23187, to 10-3 and 10-6M Nx, (P<0.05).
