Emotions in language education have been investigated mainly from a negative point of view. This paper aims to switch focus to the connection between positive emotions and foreign language teaching and learning. Its goal is to highlight the need to create and maintain a pleasant atmosphere in classroom in order to facilitate cognitive processes such as attention, reasoning and memory. Teaching strategies and techniques will be presented so that positive emotions can be better exploited.
Il ruolo delle emozioni nell’educazione linguistica è stato prevalentemente indagato dal punto di vista delle emozioni negative. Questo contributo sposta l’attenzione sul legame tra emozioni positive e didattica delle lingue straniere, per evidenziare la necessità di instaurare in classe un clima positivo in grado di attivare processi cognitivi quali l’attenzione, il ragionamento e la memoria. Si mettono inoltre in luce le strategie e le tecniche didattiche a cui il docente può ricorrere per orchestrare al meglio le emozioni positive.
