Le satiriche donzelle de «L’Oceano». Studio di un mito

L’intervento, dedicato all’esame del poema "L’Oceano" secondo una prospettiva di tipo intertestuale, si snoda attraverso due tappe principali: l’eco dei "Lusíadas" di Camões, che si manifesta con una serie di fitte allusioni, a volte mediate dalla "Gerusalemme Liberata", visibili in molti dettagli e loci; l’incrocio del tema della fanciulla dissoluta con quello della virago, un mitema cristallizzato nel motivo dell’arciera-selvaggia con la sovrapposizione di elementi disparati, come il topos della ninfa sagittaria e il rovesciamento dell’immagine della selvaggia nigra sed formosa a favore di un’iconografia della bellezza di stampo medievale. I due percorsi scelti si innestano su una componente centrale dell’opera: lo scontro fra realtà e sogno, dovere e piacere, ordine apollineo e raptus dionisiaco suggellato dall’impulso del satirico di cui le donzelle selvagge sono l’incarnazione.

This chapter, dedicated to an analysis of the poem "L’Oceano" according to an intertextual perspective, winds its way through two main phases: the echo of the "Lusíadas" of Camões, which manifests itself in an uninterrupted series of references, through the medium of the "Gerusalemme Liberata", visible in many details and loci; the intersection of the theme of the dissolute young girl with that of the virago, a mytheme crystallised in the motif of the wild woman archer, with the superimposition of diverse elements, such as the topos of the archer nymph and the reversal of the image of the wild woman nigra sed formosa in favour of an iconography of beauty of Mediaeval stamp. The two chosen pathways are rooted in a crucial component of the work: the clash between dream and reality, duty and pleasure, Apollonian order and Dionysian ecstasy, sealed by the impulse of the satirico embodied by the wild young women.
