We esatblish conditions that allow us to reduce the codimension of a slant submanifold of an almost contact metric manifold which falls in the Chinea-Gonzales class $C-5oplus C_{12}$. The Reeb vector field of the ambient space is assumwed to be orthogonal to the considered submanifolds.
