The object of this paper is the empirical analysis of the Italian judicial system, with the aim of measuring the efficiency and productivity of the courts, considering judges and administrative employed, the new, pending and finished cases during the years from 2011 to 2016: in details, we adopt Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Malmquist indexes, since they are recognized by the current literature as successful techniques to evaluate the performance of decision making units.
