Emotional Tonalities of the ‘Holy’ from Martin Heidegger to Rudolf Otto · The article is divided into two parts, corresponding to the relationship between Martin Heidegger and Rudolf Otto before and after the so-called Heideggerian turn of the 1930s. The first part analyzes the incomplete draft of a review of Das Heilige, penned by Heidegger between 1918 and 1919 (and never published while Heidegger was alive). The second part deals with some themes (in particular linked to the phenomenology of fundamental emotional tonalities) present both in Otto and in the ‘second’ Heidegger. The basic thesis is that there is a match between the philosopher of Meßkirch and the author of Das Heilige, a match that we want to re-open (to give Otto a correct place in Heideggerian studies).
