Starting from the assumption that the language of tourism is a kind of communication mostly intended for attracting and persuading potential tourists, the aim of this study is to reflect on the linguistic and cultural features emerging from a corpus of English and Italian tourist texts, including tourist guidebooks, brochures, and a monograph about Apulia, all responding both to the tourists' need to be informed and to the organisers' wish to inform in order to promote new tourist products.
