The artistic season of Baroque has involved the Capitanata in age considerably Modern. In particular, in the field of wood sculpture there is a considerable presence of works of the most important sculptors active in Naples between the end of the sixteenth and the beginning of the seventeenth century. Just the works of Giacomo Colombo are the most numerous and right here we propose the attribution of two new sculptures, present in Foggia: a Saint Francis in the Church of St. Francis Saverio and an Immaculate Conception in the Church of the Addendum attributable to Columbus and his school.
La stagione artistica del barocco ha coinvolto notevolmente la Capitanata in età moderna. In particolare, nel campo della scultura lignea si registra la presenza cospicua di opere dei più importanti scultori attivi a Napoli tra la fi ne del ‘600 e inizio ‘700. Proprio le opere di Giacomo Colombo sono le più numerose e proprio in questa sede ne proponiamo l’attribuzione di due nuove sculture, presenti a Foggia: un San Francesco nella Chiesa di S. Francesco Saverio e un’Immacolata Concezione nella chiesa dell’Addolorata attribuibili al Colombo e alla sua scuola.
