The aim of this study is to outline the particular characteristics of the male character, that integrates and completes the female one even in the Propertian fourth book; the man, in fact, is 'the other self', which shares the main role with the woman in elegiac poetry. In particular, the analysis focuses on Licota (4.3), Tazio (4,4) and Paullus (4,11) and on the different female voices, to which is almost exclusively entrusted the task to delineate functions and characteristics of their men.
