Within the researches regarding agricultural by-products exploitation and functional food increasing demand, Rice Bran Oil (RBO) assumes a particular importance. RBO nutritional characteristics make it a valuable food product. Its up to date worldwide production is equal to approximately 1 Mt (million of tons) even if its estimated productive potentialities are more and more elevated. Italy is the main rice producer in Europe but does not produce this oil. The aim of this paper is to analyze the available RBO production technologies and to collect further information about the material flows of this important niche product with an high added value.
