The paper wants to discuss about methodological aspect in ceramics researches. It starts from personal researches led on medieval pottery coming from Apulian contexts; the paper is also based on a new examination of “historical” data coming out from last century 70’s studies and researches. Among numerous thematic, terminology is a fundamental question, moreover after recent archeometric analysis’ results. The new experiences bring into a serious discussion the traditional ceramic definitions.
