The paper presents the first results of a programme of archaeometric research focused on the characterisation of the Serra d’Alto ceramics, from the area of the Temple of Ceres at Paestum, in order to better understand the raw materials used, the production techniques and the phase transformations occurred during firing, in the context of a recent reexamination of the dynamics of the occupation of the Paestum area and, more generally, the presence of the Serra d’Alto culture in Campania.
