The genetic analysis of population structure notices the level of variability among and within populations. This study aims to enhance the knowledge of the genetic variability of Stenella coeruleoalba population in the Gulf of Taranto (northern Ionian Sea, central Mediterranean Sea) through molecular-genetic analysis using both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA. We have performed and validated protocols of analysis for sex determination, for the study of microsatellites and mitochondrial DNA in S. coeruleoalba.
