With the introduction of the law n. 4 of 09/01/2004 (known as Law “Stanca” ) and of its legal additional regulations, the theme of the accessibility has taken on great importance in the Italian IT environment, coming out of the field of good practices that were confirmed by the section 508, and becoming an obligation for all the Web applications of the public administration and of the private body of the State (tv, radio and so on). The impact on the Italian Web System has generated a strong debate about the correctness and the admissibility of the criteria requested by the law, about the procedures of control and the methodology to use. This work is meant to examine the problems related to the application of the requirement n. 6 of the law Stanca: starting from the study of the legal requirements connected to the difficulties in the perception of the colours and of the pathologies linked to them, there will be the analysis of the software nowadays available for the testing of the brightness and of the contrast parameters requested by this law. Once the weakness points will be defined, the scientific contributions will be examined to make a proposal of the methodological revision of the W3C algorithm.
