The ovidian story of Semele (Met. 3, 253 -315) shows the author's ability to employ - and sometimes to upset - forms and specific resources of the carmen heroum. The ovidian expressiveness is characterised above all by the contamination of the literary codes, that testifies the poet's attitude to constantly experiment different forms of life of the plot; the episode of Semele constitutes a moment of "self-awareness" of the myth, that in the Metamorphoses regenerates himself in new models of elaboration. A precious fusion of different linguistic areas (legal; dramatic; epic; elegiac) emerges from the poetic texture and the synthesis of the traditional themes is refunded in original way.

Abstract
The ovidian story of Semele (Met. 3, 253 -315) shows the author's ability to employ - and sometimes to upset - forms and specific resources of the carmen heroum. The ovidian expressiveness is characterised above all by the contamination of the literary codes, that testifies the poet's attitude to constantly experiment different forms of life of the plot; the episode of Semele constitutes a moment of "self-awareness" of the myth, that in the Metamorphoses regenerates himself in new models of elaboration. A precious fusion of different linguistic areas (legal; dramatic; epic; elegiac) emerges from the poetic texture and the synthesis of the traditional themes is refunded in original way.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
