Personalization is one of the main issue for Web applications. A personalization component should be capable to recommend documents, Web pages and/or other Web sites, promote products, make appropriate advice, targeted e-mails, etc., in order to satisfy the needs of the different users that interact with Web applications. Personalisation is increasingly used as a mean to make the site useful and attractive so that the visitor is stimulated to return to it. As consequence, personalisation is becoming an expected feature of e-business Web sites. In this paper we present a personalization component we have developed, whose task is to build user profiles and provide recommendations to the users of an e-commerce Web site: Ferri.com.
