We report the architecture of a web-based adaptive hypermedial environment which makes use of a particular cooperative student modeling technique. In our system," MathEl", the student has an active role during the learning process. This current implementation addresses learning of the basic mathematical concepts required to pass the entrance test to scientific university faculties, using the COSMO cooperative model. The system was developed on the architecture we describe because it is domain-independent and can therefore serve as the overall architecture for a completely adaptive system based on the COSMO model.

Abstract
