The presence of ectopic pancreatic tissue has been reported with a variable incidence of autopsy studies; the most common locations are the stomach, duodenum and jejunum. A rare case of symptomatic heterotopic pancreatic tissue in the gallbladder is described. A 57 year-old female was admitted with upper abdomen pain; ultrasonography revealed slight thickening of gallbladder wall and cholecystectomy was performed. After 2 years follow-up the patient is asymptomatic. Three theories have been advanced to explain the occurrence of heterotopic pancreatic tissue.
