In this article we will discuss the restorative models, addressing the international guidelines for the pursuit of retributive policies, essential to any society that has been involved in conflicts. The paper will point out the meanings of the post-conflict dimension, asking whether the restorative justice paradigm serves the best interests of the States – dealing with past violations by removing the injustices from the societal environment “created” by crimes. Restorative justice, as understood in the doctrinal debate, basically signifies a process in which offenders, victims, their representatives and representatives of the community come together to agree on a response to a crime;t is also the “best way to provide future deterrence, establish the facts, provide satisfaction to the victims, and educate future generations.”
