A method for the induction of structural knowledge (ontologies) expressed in description logics from semantic annotations (metadata) is presented. Preliminarily, a basic ontology of the primitive concepts and roles is extracted from the assertions in an A-box. Then, in order to deal with the inherent algorithmic complexity that affects induction in structured domains, the ontology in the form of a T-box is constructed by incrementally refining successive versions of the target T-boxes, possibly expressed in richer languages of the Semantic Web, endowed with well-founded reasoning capabilities.

Abstract
A method for the induction of structural knowledge (ontologies) expressed in description logics from semantic annotations (metadata) is presented. Preliminarily, a basic ontology of the primitive concepts and roles is extracted from the assertions in an A-box. Then, in order to deal with the inherent algorithmic complexity that affects induction in structured domains, the ontology in the form of a T-box is constructed by incrementally refining successive versions of the target T-boxes, possibly expressed in richer languages of the Semantic Web, endowed with well-founded reasoning capabilities.File in questo prodotto:
