Abstract
The article shows the development of the ‘infidel’ topos in several genres and authors starting from the second half of the thirteenth to the fourteenth century. A special attention is dedicated to the reception of the figures of Mohammed and of Hassan-i Sabbah, and to the ‘moralized’ representation of the East as space of the marvellous, aiming to analyse the distance from chronicle (Giovanni Villani, Pucci, etc.) to the novella (Boccaccio, Sercambi).File in questo prodotto:
