This paper analyzes the recent evolution and socio-cultural impact of festivals in Italy, framing them not merely as seasonal entertainment events, but as authentic civic infrastructures capable of mobilizing local territories and communities. Finally, the text examines the international festival Castel dei Mondi in Andria as a paradigmatic case study: a multidisciplinary event that, by bridging the historic center and the periphery, has historically compensated for the lack of a physical municipal theater, thereby evolving into a vital, decentralized space for social engagement, inclusivity, and active citizenship.

Abstract
This paper analyzes the recent evolution and socio-cultural impact of festivals in Italy, framing them not merely as seasonal entertainment events, but as authentic civic infrastructures capable of mobilizing local territories and communities. Finally, the text examines the international festival Castel dei Mondi in Andria as a paradigmatic case study: a multidisciplinary event that, by bridging the historic center and the periphery, has historically compensated for the lack of a physical municipal theater, thereby evolving into a vital, decentralized space for social engagement, inclusivity, and active citizenship.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
