This study explores the evolving role of Mediterranean countries in global trade, particularly in the context of growing geopolitical conflicts and the restructuring of global value chains. As political alignments become more pronounced, non-aligned nations, such as those in the Mediterranean, can play a crucial role in connecting opposing blocs, acting as trade and investment bridges. The research examines the strategic position of Mediterranean countries, analysing their trade routes, key partners and industries to prioritize. By using data on bilateral trade and the pass-through frequency indicator, the study assesses whether these countries are increasingly crucial in bypassing restrictive trade policies. The findings suggest that Mediterranean nations could help maintain the resilience of global value chains in a polarized global economy and promote stronger regional cooperation.

Abstract
The findings suggest that Mediterranean nations could help maintain the resilience of global value chains in a polarized global economy and promote stronger regional cooperation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
