The origin and acceleration mechanisms of charged cosmic rays represent a long-standing puzzle of astroparticle physics. The recent research field of multimessenger astrophysics employs the complementary information provided by various cosmic messengers - photons, neutrinos, and gravitational waves - emitted from the same astronomical sources to achieve a more comprehensive description of the mechanisms powering their emission. Blazars, namely radio-loud active galactic nuclei with relativistic jets closely aligned with the line-of-sight from the Earth, are by far the most numerous class of sources detected at very high-energy gamma rays. combined multiwavelength and multimessenger studies of these sources are essential for advancing our understanding of particle acceleration in the most extreme astrophysical environments. This thesis comprises three main projects focused on the multiwavelength and multimessenger study of the nonthermal emission of a sample of very high-energy gamma-ray blazars, one being the most significant blazar in the all-sky neutrino data observed with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. Each of these works involves both the analysis of data from several multiwavelength facilities and the development of an interpretative model for the observed emission.

Abstract
Each of these works involves both the analysis of data from several multiwavelength facilities and the development of an interpretative model for the observed emission.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
