The reception of the works of the distinguished Hispanist, poet and translator Vittorio Bodini in Spain is particularly interesting. While the circulation of his poetry has been limited and fragmented, the posthumous translation and publication of his most important critical essays (Estudio estructural de la literatura clásica española, by the Barcelona publishing house Martínez Roca in 1971; Los poetas surrealistas españoles, Barcelona, Tusquets, 1971) provides an interesting example of how Franco's censorship reinterpreted and reformulated some of the more militant passages of the work, thereby neutralising them. This research, following a detailed compari-son between the original Italian and the Spanish translation, aims to reflect on the many si-lences imposed by the dictatorship, which represent an example of “betrayal”.
