Brain mapping for surgical resection of left dominant supramarginal and angular gyrus grade II ependymoma: 2-dimensional operative video.

This video article presents the case of a 12 years-old male patient with an ependymoma grade II WHO CNS 2021, 1 located in the supramarginal and angular gyrus. The patient was right-handed and presented with complex partial seizures and de cits in lexical denomination, word retrieving, and verbal uency. Awake surgery with bipolar cortical 2,3 and sub- cortical mapping allows safe and gross total resection with no new de cits after surgery. 4-6 This surgical strategy highlights the effectiveness of awake surgery in pediatric neuro-oncology and demonstrates the collaboration among neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and neurophysiologists to achieve optimal patient outcome with the best patient’s collaboration. 7,8 No Institutional Review Board/ethics committee approval was required.
