In the vast body of political studies on the Iliad, much attention has been paid to the role of rulers and their individual contributions. Agamemnon, Achilles, Nestor, Odysseus: heroes who personify virtue and an aspect traceable in the education of the aristocracy, which emerged as an emerging social and political group even before the eighth century BC, when Homer collected the numerous tales circulating in various Greek circles. However, these rulers established forums for discussion and decision-making, which never depended on the choice of a single man in command. The Assembly, and even more so the Council, represent political institutions of considerable importance in the overall context of the war at Ilium. These institutional bodies also offer historical insights that should not be underestimated
