In relation to content moderation on digital platforms and its potential impact on users’ freedom of expression, as well as its balance with the rights of others affected by such content, this work analyzes the Meta Oversight Board (OB) established by Meta, examining its organizational structure, its role in relation to Meta’s internal content moderation systems, its functioning, and the scope of its decisions. It also assesses the possible framing of the OB within the Digital Services Act and draws conclusions regarding its nature, current utility, and future prospects for development.
