In recent years, the incessant flow of people, goods, and cultures has led territories and geographical areas marked by conflict and transit to experience the process of “migramorphosis” that Pastore (2023) had predicted thirty years ago with regard to a complex and problematic, but also exciting metamorphosis that had affected Italian society, as well as the rest of Europe. Starting from a review of the extensive sci-entific literature that identifies the language barrier as one of the factors that discourag-es migrant women who are victims of GBV from seeking treatment and psychological assistance, this contribution will examine, in particular, the role of language mediation, the political dimension of the narrative experiences of language mediators, the ethical challenges and risks of vicarious trauma that characterize the profession in conditions of extreme vulnerability.

Abstract
In recent years, the incessant flow of people, goods, and cultures has led territories and geographical areas marked by conflict and transit to experience the process of “migramorphosis” that Pastore (2023) had predicted thirty years ago with regard to a complex and problematic, but also exciting metamorphosis that had affected Italian society, as well as the rest of Europe. Starting from a review of the extensive sci-entific literature that identifies the language barrier as one of the factors that discourag-es migrant women who are victims of GBV from seeking treatment and psychological assistance, this contribution will examine, in particular, the role of language mediation, the political dimension of the narrative experiences of language mediators, the ethical challenges and risks of vicarious trauma that characterize the profession in conditions of extreme vulnerability.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
