Aree cimiteriali tardoantiche in Apulia et Calabria: caratteristiche insediative, organizzazione degli spazi, pratiche e riti

In the last thirty years, investigations in Apulian funerary contexts have made significant strides in terms of new acquisitions, further investigations in already known contexts, and the edition of the results also in monographic volumes. Through some exemplifications, an attempt will be made to highlight trend lines, themes and problems connoting a territorial compartment that responds to settlement characteristics that are in some ways homogeneous. The chronological time period selected is the 4th-6th/VIIth centuries during which the province essentially retains its institutional boundaries and related settlement structure. These are boundaries that allow us to highlight elements of transformation from the previous arrangement, also in relation to the phenomenon of Christianization that emerges from the first half of the fourth century.
