ARMADILLO_MB is a user-friendly ExcelTM spreadsheet to perform least-squares major element oxide mass balance regression analysis applied to igneous petrogenetic processes such as Rayleigh fractional crystallization (FC), cumulate formation, equilibrium batch melting (EBM), and assimilation (solid phase(s) and/or a third magma) coupled fractional crystallization. The novelty of ARMADILLO_MB is that it is written the old way, with cells directly hosting formulas containing built-in functions without VBA programming and macro-enabled worksheets. This design is conceived to enable rapid evaluation of models via copy-and-paste from the user’s own data tables, allow compatibility with several (current and earlier) versions of ExcelTM, and to prevent macro-security risk/block and to overcome conflict/incompatibility problems due to different processor architectures. This makes ARMADILLO_MB an easy-to-use multiplatform ExcelTM spreadsheet to help dig into igneous petrological processes.
