Abstract

When Plato elaborates the administrative organization of the Laws, he plans both institutes infuenced by Athenian and Spartan experiences. The investigation of this article focuses on this second group. There have been many scholars in the scientific community who in recent times have considered any comparisons between Magnesia and Sparta to be ineffective. Yet, a historical reinterpretation of the philosopher’s ideas could require different attention towards the Lacedaemonian institutes, in particular the ephorate and gerusia.
