The paper tackles the issues of sustainable fishery and marine litter in the Mediterranean. Their negative effects on species and ecosystems cause irreversible environmental impacts and can have consequences on economic development and welfare. The article analyzes the main programs of the European Union and some management measures and activities aimed at both a sustainable fishery and the recovery and recycling of marine litter.
