This paper illustrates a research carried out in order to point out methodologies and tools for the modelling of an elearning federate environment that allows the realization of the exchange and the sharing of the cognitive resources located in various e-learning platforms. This has been realized with the federation of e-learning platforms thanks to their integration by means of a “federating meta-platform”. Task of the “meta-platform” is that of pointing out competences and formative materials concerning the specific path selected by the user within each node/federate platform, thus developing a federal interconnection among the nodes. In this way the phenomenon of the dispersion and of the redundancy of the formative offer has been reduced and at the same time the learning processes have been rationalized and optimized.
