The authors describe the macro-, microscopic and ecological features of Pluteus bizioi, a new taxon belonging to the genus Pluteus Fr. The species was found on alluvial soil, in an area close to the bank of the Isonzo (Soca) river where trunks and branches of willows had been stacked. This taxon is characterized by a brown pileus with dark brown or blackish scales, utriform cheilocystidia and the presence of pleurocystidia and caulocystidia. The description is illustrated with photographs of the basidiomata in habitat and photographs of the main microscopic features. Molecular data (nrITS) support the recognition of this new species.
